Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a client wardrobe?

No. Styled shoots are gorgeous! However, it's not something I offer. Time, cost, space, and personal shooting style are some factors. If a client wardrobe is something that you're after, I follow some amazing local photographers who offer this and I'm happy to pass on their details ❤️

I love capturing families as they are, in their style, for the time that they’re in. That may be the Target range, modern beige and white, bright colours, only black, eclectic, or something else entirely! I keep communication open with clients to chat anytime about style, what to wear, tips etc. Communication is key to getting photos you love and that represent your family.

So, what should I wear to my shoot?

Let me see your style! Let's work together to capture images you love that show your family as you are.

Some tips:

  • Wear clothes you feel confident in

  • I usually ask people to avoid logos and words. However, if you wear a particular brand and want that in your images, go for it.

  • Put kids in clothes that they can move comfortably in as they’ll be more relaxed.

If you’re unsure, I recommend a simple colour scheme of complimentary colours with an added brown, beige, white or black. For example, if it’s spring I would recommend a mix of purples, blues and pinks with brown or black pants. If it’s winter I would recommend going with some deep reds/oranges and maroons with a dark brown. There are many combinations that work.

Depending on where we shoot I will sometimes send some extra recommendations. For example, if we’re shooting somewhere with lots of nature and few paths in summer, I would recommend avoiding too much yellow and green as there will already be a lot of that in the background.

Also be assured that on booking your shoot, I’m available to chat about these specifics.

Do you do Christmas minis and other minis?

Yes, I love minis!

I run minis from August/September through to February. I’ve done winter minis, spring minis, christmas minis and treehouse mins.

Christmas mini dates and times will be released at the end of October to take place in November. Keep an eye on socials for any upcoming minis. If you’re not on socials a whole lot, please get in contact and I can put you on an email list to notify you when minis are becoming available.

15mins ~ $100 ~ 5 photos
(all photos $200)

What does a shoot look like?

My aim with all shoots is to make you feel at ease, keep it natural, and ensure you get photos that you love ❤️

You arrive and I greet you to have a chat. We then head over to the location. I will have my own ideas and shots that I want to get, however, I also encourage everyone to share any ideas they have. Kids often have great ideas of what photos/poses they want to try. I encourage kids to bring along toys or items that make them feel comfortable - it leads to really natural photos. We chat, we have fun! If there’s kids, there’s bubbles and jumping and play! I check in regularly to make sure everyone is comfortable. And as always, if you have any concerns or queries, just ask.

Can I bring my cat, dog, bearded dragon?

Yes! Please just let me know beforehand so that I can be prepared.

Pets are always welcome! If you are bringing a pet, just let me know beforehand. There are some public places that don’t allow animals, and some locations where dogs must be held on the lead at all times. Letting me know means I can organise a suitable location. It also means I can be prepared with any treats for the pet to help the session run smoothly.

How much editing do you do?

Editing in photography is incredibly diverse! There are thousands of ways you could edit one photo.
I've found my flow which aligns with a look that I like and a 'philosophy' on how much to edit people.

I love to keep things as natural as possible. I shoot in RAW so there is some editing that needs doing- sharpening, colour correction etc. I also use a base preset before adjusting each image. Outside of that, I soften wrinkles and skin, and smooth out the colour on skin (without removing anything). I then work by the principle of removing anything that wouldn’t be there in a week - pimples, scratches, food on kids faces, fly away hairs etc.

I’m worried my child won’t sit still or look at the camera.

This is not an issue!

This is very normal behaviour. I centre my sessions with little ones around play and interaction for this reason. I will pose some photos, then give little ones a break with bubbles, cuddles, play, and fun. It works every time and means happy kids and relaxed parents.

Some tips to prepare little ones before a session:

  • Let them pick a favourite item to bring

  • Feed and water them beforehand

  • Chat to them about the fun we’ll have!

This is probably the concern that most parents have leading up to a session. Hopefully I can put your mind at ease and we can go into the session with the aim of finding genuine connection and fun. I find that in letting kids just be themselves, we get the most natural photos of them ❤️

I’m really self-conscious about … hair/nose/weight etc

This is a big one. I think this is one that we don’t often speak about because we think we’ll come across as vain. But at the end of the day, we’re all a little self-conscious in one way or another, and we all want to look good in our photos! I want you to have photos that you love, and I think by talking about these things and helping you feel less self-conscious at the shoot we can do that togther.

We all have our hang ups about how we look. And they can be especially tough to get past when there’s a camera in your face! My advice is: communication. Tell me about it. By making me aware, I can aim to pose you in such a way that you feel more comfortable.

Some tips:

  • Wear clothes that make you feel confident.

  • Work out your ‘best side’. Most people have a preferred side for photos. Take some selfies, look at past photos and see if you can work it out, then let me know!

  • Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet leading up to the shoot. This will help you feel more alert and confident.

  • Remind yourself about the positives of getting the photos - to create memories with loved ones.

P.S . My preferred side is my left side.
